At FreedPer Scientific, we believe that building resilient communities begins with inspiring young people to appreciate science, technology, and the environment. This month, our Managing Director, Freedom Mukanga, visited Vamba Primary School in rural Zimbabwe to engage students on the fascinating world of weather, climate, and environmental science.

The interactive session explored how weather information influences everyday decision-making across agriculture, mining, aviation, sport, disaster risk reduction, and water resource management. Students demonstrated remarkable curiosity as they learned how environmental observations collected today can improve decisions tomorrow.

Freedom also shared his personal journey—from a young student with an interest in meteorology to building a career and business dedicated to strengthening Africa's environmental observation networks. The discussion emphasized the importance of education, perseverance, and developing strong foundations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

A key highlight of the visit was encouraging students to make full use of their school's weather station. Beyond serving as an educational resource, the station provides valuable opportunities for practical scientific learning, data collection, and environmental awareness.

FreedPer Scientific extends its sincere appreciation to SOS Children's Villages in Zimbabwe for supporting this important initiative and investing in the future of rural education.

The future of weather and climate services in Africa will be shaped by young people like these, and we remain committed to nurturing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and environmental leaders.
